Sunil Gopinath

Sunil is currently the Sr. Vice President of Products and CEO of Rakuten India. He is currently responsible for scaling out the product and technology footprint for Rakuten across a wide range of Rakuten’s global businesses & Technology initiatives. He is also particularly excited about his role in driving the rapid proliferation of Data Sciences & AI as a culture and as a platform across Rakuten’s products & businesses.

Prior to Rakuten, Sunil was the Product head of India’s #1 eCommerce company Flipkart’s Marketplace Division, where he helped build out all the products and tools needed to scale the Marketplace business to a $2B+ business with over 100,000 merchants.

He has also held senior leadership roles globally in companies like Intel & Qualcomm driving innovation in Mobile, Wearable Devices & Location Based Services.

Sunil has an MBA from the University of California, Berkeley and an MS from Virginia Tech.
