Spoofing Email Threat and Countermeasures

Recently, there has been an increase in the number of spoofed emails seen in the news. Spoofing emails are used as an entrance to phishing sites and virus infections. Damages such as hijacking of accounts on internet service and requests for money from virus infections have occurred. The spoofing email content has been sophisticated. It is almost impossible to distinguish from real emails by eyes. The demand for countermeasures against these threats is increasing so that customers can use the service with peace of mind. In this session, Dr. Kitagawa will explain the latest status and trend of spoofing email. Also, he explain sender authentication technology DMARC, SPF and DKIM as a countermeasure. In the later part of the session, we will introduce the case study in Rakuten.
