Hajime Nishinomiya

I joined Rakuten in 2009 and worked for new graduate recruitment when Rakuten was proceeding "Englishnization" for globalization. From the beginning of 2015 I worked for launching new Android app store and new services development. At that time, I started to be interested in blockchain technology deeply while I was considering about more open digital content distribution scheme. From November 2016 I am driving to utilize blockchain/cryptocurrency for actual businesses as business developer of R&D organization Rakuten Blockchain Lab. I'm making an effort to create truly beneficial services by blockchain technology and cryptocurrency with many businesses in Rakuten group and external partners.

Blockchain Technology Utilization in Global Rakuten Ecosystem 13:40 - 14:20
Rakuten is working for many projects in blockchain area. We believe that blockchain technology can be used not only for much specific business area but also broader businesses area and foundation of global Rakuten ecosystem. In the end of 2017, Rakuten Energy Trading System was launched as the first case of using blockchain in production. In the middle of 2019, cryptocurrency exchange service Rakuten Wallet was launched. In this session, Rakuten Blockchain Lab team which is the blockchain specialized R&D organization for Rakuten group will introduce our initiatives and technical challenges, also potential opportunities.
