About this event

This year is "Rakuten Technology Conference"'s fifth anniversary. We have been conducting this event since 2007 with many people's support. Last year, the concept of the conference was "Hello World!", and we produced many sessions focusing on the technologies and the topics capturing the spotlight overseas with eyes on global expansion. This year, we set up the concept "Embrace BIG Change!". The concept has an aggressive meaning that we will take one step further from last year and embrace big change to progress. In XP (eXtreme Programming), Kent Beck said "Embrace Change". He said it is the way, Tao that we embrace changes positively and perform a certain development with change, not that we develop a preparation for fears of change. So, we should not also adopt a defensive stance with preparing for the crisis through globalization, but we should enjoy this big changing moment positively.

Embrace BIG Change!

"BIG" means big changes with us and the vast Internet itself. Under this concept, we will produce the session centered on three key themes of Globalization, Agile, and BIG Data. We will present many sessions including presenters from overseas, a variety of topics reflecting globalization, real Agile development, and practical approaches for BIG Data. We are sure you can feel big change in them. In addition, we are also planning panel discussions where visitors can think and talk about the future of IT engineers with guest engineers who work actively in overseas. Of course, Lightning Talks are also planned as always. Please apply for Lightning Talks if you have any developed applications or ideas.
